I Took on the Mighty Hike… Dressed as a Shark! 🦈

There are plenty of ways to take on a half marathon.

I decided to do it dressed as a Great White Shark. 🦈As part of Luke’s Down Under Bite Against Cancer, I took on the Macmillan Mighty Hike — a 13.1-mile challenge to raise even more money and awareness for the cancer charities at the heart of this campaign.

It was a tough day, but it was also an amazing experience. Walking mile after mile in a shark costume certainly brought a few smiles, some strange looks and plenty of conversations along the way! But there was a serious reason behind the costume.Cancer has already changed my life.

I was diagnosed with melanoma in August 2022, and after further investigations, kidney cancer was confirmed in August 2025. I went on to have partial kidney surgery in December 2025.

Thankfully, my latest scans have brought good news — but my experience is a big part of why I’m determined to turn something difficult into something positive.

The Mighty Hike is just one part of the journey. The main challenge is still ahead.October 2027. Australia. Great White Sharks. Ocean-floor cage diving.I’m taking on that challenge to raise £20,000 for four cancer charities:

🧡 Cancer Research UK

🧡 Kidney Cancer UK

🧡 Macmillan Cancer Support

🧡 Melanoma UK

The hike may be over, but the Bite Against Cancer is only getting started.Thank you to everyone who supported me, donated, shared the campaign or simply stopped to ask what the shark was doing!🦈

One mighty challenge. Four charities. One Bite Against Cancer.
