Four days at sea. Great Whites. Ocean-floor cage diving. Four charities.
Off the coast of South Australia, the Neptune Islands are internationally renowned for Great White shark encounters. This is where a childhood obsession becomes a very real expedition.
In October 2027 I'll spend four days at sea, experiencing the sharks in their natural environment. The aim isn't to conquer them. It's to enter their world, witness these extraordinary animals and turn that experience into something positive for people affected by cancer.

I'll be joining Rodney Fox Shark Expeditions, a specialist South Australian operator with a long history of Great White shark research and cage-diving experiences.
Rodney Fox's name is closely connected to the history of shark cage diving. Their expeditions offer an opportunity to learn about the sharks, their habitat and the work involved in understanding and protecting them.
EXPLORE RODNEY FOX EXPEDITIONSThe ocean-floor cage is one of the reasons I'm working towards my PADI Open Water qualification. It offers a different perspective on the sharks and their environment — and takes real preparation.
A chance to encounter Great Whites from the water's surface, close to the boat.
The cage is lowered beneath the surface to give qualified divers a view from deeper in the water column, subject to conditions and operator requirements.
Time aboard the expedition vessel, learning about the marine environment and preparing for each encounter.
The final dive programme depends on weather, wildlife, safety conditions and the expedition operator.
