An incredible weekend of fundraising at Sainsbury’s Perton has helped bring Luke’s Down Under: Bite Against Cancer closer to its first major £10,000 milestone.

On Saturday 10 October, I swapped my usual clothes for a shark costume and headed to Sainsbury’s Perton to sell tickets for The Great Shark Draw — all in support of four incredible cancer charities.
The response from the local community was absolutely fantastic!
Between the support at Sainsbury’s and further donations over the weekend, around £750 was raised, bringing the overall fundraiser to just over £150 away from £10,000 at the time.
A Huge Thank You to Perton
I want to say an enormous thank you to everyone who stopped to chat, bought raffle tickets, made a donation, shared the fundraiser or simply offered a few words of encouragement.
A special thank you also goes to the team at Sainsbury’s Perton for welcoming me into the store and giving me the opportunity to raise awareness of the campaign.
Seeing the local community get behind this challenge means more than I can put into words.
One Step Closer to £20,000
After my own experiences with melanoma and kidney cancer, I launched Luke’s Down Under: Bite Against Cancer with an ambitious target of raising over £20,000.
In October 2027, I’ll be travelling to Australia to cage dive with Great White Sharks, raising funds for:
Cancer Research UK
Kidney Cancer UK
Macmillan Cancer Support
Melanoma UK
The support received at Sainsbury’s is another huge step towards that goal.

The Great Shark Draw Is Still Open!
